JAKARTA. The Directorate General of Taxes (DGT) stated that until the first week of January 2024, 219,593 taxpayers had reported the Annual Tax Return (SPT) for the 2023 tax year.
Quoting Kontan.co.id, the number recorded as of 8 January 2024 consisted of 208,997 individual taxpayers and 10,596 corporate taxpayers. Therefore, the Director of Extension, Services, and Public Relations (P2 Humas) of the DGT Dwi Astuti thanked taxpayers who had submitted the annual tax returns.
Nevertheless, DGT reminds taxpayers who have not submitted the annual income tax return for the 2023 tax year to do so before the specified deadline immediately.
As for individual taxpayers, the deadline for submission will end on 31 March 2024. Meanwhile, for corporate taxpayers, the deadline falls on 30 April 2024.
If the deadline passes, taxpayers will be subject to administrative sanctions according to applicable tax provisions. However, if until the deadline, taxpayers experience difficulties or obstacles, they can apply for an extension.
For information in recent years, the formal compliance ratio, or the ratio of the number of taxpayers who submit Annual Tax Returns tends to increase.
In 2022, the formal taxpayer ratio was 86.8%, higher than in previous years. For example, in 2021, the formal compliance ratio was only 84.07%, in 2020 it was 77.63%, in 2019 it was 73.06% and in 2018 it was 71.1%. (ASP/KEN)
