The Public Works Ministry has approved highway company PT Jasa Marga's proposal to increase rates along the Jakarta - Cikampek toll road prices by 10 percent starting Monday next week.

“The toll for Type I vehicles will increase from Rp 11,000 (US$1.14) to Rp 12,000 for Jakarta-Cikampek route,” PT Jasa Marga operational director Hasanuddin said on Tuesday as quoted by tempo.co.

Meanwhile, tolls for Type II, III, IV and V vehicles will respectively increase from Rp 17,500 to Rp 19,500; from Rp 22,000 to Rp 24,000; from Rp 27,500 to Rp 30,000; and from Rp 33,000 to Rp 36,500.

The adjustment will also be implied on rates for Jakarta-West Cikarang toll road, whose new tolls will range from Rp 5,500 to Rp 11,000.

Jasa Marga estimated that it would obtain Rp 2.5 billion in daily income from 450,000 to 500,000 vehicles after the adjustment.

Hasanuddin said that the company promised to implement automatic toll gate systems and queue transfer systems to avoid long lines in the near future.

“The company will also implement a real-time information system, so drivers can avoid gridlocked spots,” he said. (cor/swd)
