Monday, 10 June 2024
JAKARTA. The value of tax restitution until the end of April 2024 was recorded at IDR 110.64 trillion, up 81.67% year on year (YoY). Restitution is a refund of tax overpayments made by taxpayers.
Quoting Kontan.co.id, in April 2023 the amount of restitution paid by the Directorate General of Taxes (DGT) to taxpayers was only IDR 60.9 trillion.
The large restitution figure is one of the causes of the low net tax revenue in April 2024. The total tax revenue until April 2024 was recorded at IDR 624.19 trillion.
This figure decreased by 9.29% compared to the same period in 2023. However, on a gross basis, the realization of tax revenue only grew negatively by 1.91% compared to 2023.
However, the decline in tax revenue was not only influenced by restitution. The government said that another factor affecting tax revenue was that corporate performance was disrupted due to the decline in commodity prices.
In general, the following is the performance of tax revenue until the end of April 2024. First, Income Tax revenue was recorded at IDR 401.81 trillion or 35.25% of the target.
Then, Value Added Tax and Sales Tax on Luxury Goods (VAT and STLG) amounted to IDR 218.50 trillion. Lastly, the realization of land and building tax (L&B tax) and other taxes revenue was IDR 3.87 trillion. (ASP)
