JAKARTA. The Directorate General of Taxes (DGT) stated that until March 15, 2024, as many as 6.11 million taxpayers had not matched their Taxpayer Identification Number (NPWP) with the Population Identification Number (NIK).
Quoting Bisnis.com, the number of taxpayers who must perform NPMP-NIK matching is 73.48 million taxpayers. Of that number, taxpayers who have done the NIK-NPWP matching are 67.36 taxpayers.
According to DGT, several things make 6.11 taxpayers have not done the NIK-NPWP matching. Some of them include, the taxpayer has passed away, the Tax ID Number is inactive or the taxpayer has already lived abroad.
For this reason, DGT will communicate with the Directorate General of Population and Civil Registration (Dukcapil) of the Ministry of Home Affairs, to ensure that all taxpayers do the matching.
Meanwhile, the deadline for taxpayers to do the matching is maximum on June 30, 2024, as stipulated in the Minister of Finance Regulation (PMK) Number 136 of 2023 on the amendment to PMK Number 112/PMK.03/2022.
The regulation generally regulates the Tax ID Number of Individual Corporate Taxpayers and Government Institution Taxpayers.
Regarding the matching of NIK with NPWP, it is only required for Individual Taxpayers who are residents of Indonesia, including Indonesian Citizens and Foreign Citizens who have NIK. Meanwhile, non-resident individual Taxpayers, Corporate Taxpayers, and Government Institution Taxpayers use NPWP with a 16-digit format. (ASP/KEN)
