BI: Parking Tax and L&B Tax Payments Can Use QRIS

JAKARTA. Bank Indonesia (BI) revealed that the Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS) can now be used to make payments for various types of local taxes, such as parking taxes, land and building taxes (L&B tax), and other retribution services.
QRIS is the unification of various QRs from various Payment System Service Providers (PJSP) using the QR Code developed by the payment system industry together with BI.
Quoting CnbcIndonesia.com, currently 427 local governments out of 542 local governments, whose services can use QRIS.
There are 16 types of local taxes that the Local Government authorizes. Among them, are collected by the Provincial Government and nine types of taxes collected by the Regency/City Government with the following details.
Types of Local Tax
Meanwhile, referring to Law (UU) Number 1 of 2022 concerning Financial Relations between the Central Government and Regional Governments (HKPD), 16 types of regional taxes are authorized to be collected by local governments, both provincial and district/city governments.
The following types of taxes levied by the Provincial Government include:
- Motor Vehicle Tax (PKB).
- Motor Vehicle Title Transfer Fee (BBNKB).
- Heavy Equipment Tax (PAB).
- Motor Vehicle Fuel Tax (PBBKB).
- Surface water tax (PAP).
- Cigarette Tax.
- Non-metal mineral and rock tax (MBLB).
Meanwhile, the taxes levied by the Regency/City Government are as follows.
- Rural and Urban Land and Building Tax (PBB-P2).
- Acquisition Costs of Land and Building Rights (BPHTB).
- Specific Goods and Services Tax (PBJT).
- Advertisement tax.
- Groundwater Tax (PAT).
- Non-metal mineral and rock tax (MBLB).
- Swallow's Nest Tax.
- Additional tax on Motor Vehicle Tax (PKB).
- Additional tax on Motor Vehicle Title Transfer Fee (BBNKB)
Connected with KKI
In addition to tax payments and retribution services, QRIS can also be used by local governments when doing shopping because it is connected to the Indonesian Credit Card (KKI) service for the government segment.
For information, KKI is a means of payment for expenditures that can be charged to the State Budget (APBN).
According to BI records, the nominal QRIS transactions in 2023 reached IDR 229.96 trillion or grew 130.01% compared to the same period in 2022 or year on year (yoy). Meanwhile, the number of QRIS users was recorded at 45.78 million with the number of merchants reaching 30.41 million, most of which are MSMEs. (ASP/KEN)
