Core Tax Implementation Waits for XBRL Format Piloting Phase Two

JAKARTA. The Directorate General of Taxes (DGT) stated that the implementation of the Core Tax Administration System (CTAS) must wait for taxpayers' readiness to use the eXtensible Business Report Language (XBRL) data format.

XBRL is a reporting standard used in the new tax administration system. Specifically, XBRL contains a communication language that will apply universally so that it can be used to exchange business information.

According to Director General of Taxes Suryo Utomo, so far DGT has conducted trials on the use of data in XBRL format with 37 taxpayers in 10 Tax Offices (KPP).

Phase Two Trial

The plan is that the trial or piloting of the use of XBRL will be expanded in the second phase, involving 700 taxpayers in 15 tax offices. "Yesterday we tried to discuss, around 15 tax offices will be the next piloting," said Suryo, Friday (15/12).

Suryo hopes that this second phase of testing can run smoothly, so that the Core Tax System can be implemented. So that later, the company's financial reports that will be attached to the Tax Return will be in XBRL form.

Concerning the evaluation results of the initial testing phase implementation, Suryo emphasized the need for improvements at the DGT, particularly in the taxonomy or classification of the data to be submitted.

Data Classification

They are especially related to the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) data module and the taxonomy of notes on financial statements. "We are trying to continue to make improvements and adjustments so that in time, there will be no obstacles to implementation," he said.

For the DGT, the implementation of the Core Tax System is crucial, considering that its existence is expected to produce a better tax administration information system. Thus, the tax authority's efforts in optimizing tax revenue, services, and supervision can be realized.

Meanwhile, for taxpayers, the Core Tax is considered to provide benefits in the form of better services received and reduced potential tax disputes. Moreover, through this updated system, taxpayers will have a taxpayer account in the DGT portal with maintained service standards. (ASP/KEN)
