JAKARTA. The Directorate General of Taxes (DGT) has written to taxpayers to participate in the Voluntary Disclosure Program (VDP), or tax amnesty volume II.

The message was conveyed via electronic mail (e-mail) made on behalf of the Director General of Taxes Suryo Utomo.

However, apart from calling for disclosure of assets through VDP, DGT also promised that there would be no more similar programs in the future.

In fact, the government made the same promise when it held the first volume of the tax amnesty program in 2016-2017. At that time, the government said that the tax amnesty program would only be issued once.

According to the DGT, VDP is an opportunity given to taxpayers, if they have assets that have not been reported in the Annual Tax Return (SPT) to disclose them without being subject to administrative sanctions.

In the circular letter, the DGT also explained that the VDP, which will take place from 1 January to 30 June 2022, consists of two policies.

The first policy is for taxpayers who have participated in the first volume of the tax amnesty in 2016-2017 and still have assets acquired before 2015 that have not been disclosed.

The second policy applies to taxpayers who have assets in 2016-2020 and have not been reported in the annual tax return and are still owned until 31 December 2020.

DGT hopes that with this appeal, taxpayers who meet these criteria will be willing to participate in VDP. Because, apart from being free from the threat of sanctions, the existence of VDP is also very important in encouraging the recovery of the national economy.
