HANGZHOU. One of MUC Consulting's partners, Karsino Miarso, attended the Asia-Oceania Tax Consultants Association (AOTCA) Annual General Meeting and Tax Conference in Hangzhou, China. This event took place over four days from October 22-25, 2024.
AOTCA, established on August 27, 1965, is an organization that represents various tax consultant associations across the Asia-Pacific region, including the Indonesian Tax Consultants Association (IKPI), of which MUC Consulting is a member.
At this 16th annual meeting, AOTCA adopted the theme "Tax Governance: The Role of Tax Firms/Tax Consultants," addressing various tax issues and challenges consultants face in promoting taxpayer compliance.
Some of these challenges include complex regulations, tax governance issues, and resource limitations.
The conference also covered four key components of tax governance: tax strategy, risk management, compliance reporting, and transparency and accountability.
Additionally, tax incentives in the technology sector were discussed, as well as an in-depth focus on the implementation of Pillar 2 of the Base Erosion and Profit Shifting (BEPS) initiative.
This topic is especially significant as most AOTCA member tax consultants are preparing for the implementation of a 15% global minimum tax in 2025. Another key agenda item was the election and appointment of the AOTCA President for the 2025-2026 term. (ASP/KEN)
