Ministry of Finance Realigned: Now Directly under the President

JAKARTA. The Ministry of Finance is no longer under the coordination of the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs. This is stated in Article 26 of Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 139 of 2024, which was enacted on 21 October 2024.
Quoting Kompas.com, by not being part of the coordinating minister for economic affairs, the ministry of finance will directly coordinate with President Prabowo Subianto.
Confirmation of the Ministry of Finance's position was conveyed by the Head of the Ministry of Finance's Communication and Information Services Bureau Deni Surjantoro.
So far, the Ministry of Finance has always been under the coordinating minister for economic affairs. Thus, the ministries under the coordinating minister for the economy now consist of seven ministries as follows:
- Ministry of Labour
- Ministry of Industry
- Ministry of Trade
- Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources
- Ministry of State-owned Enterprises
- Ministry of Investment
- Ministry of Tourism and other agencies.
Previously, Prabowo Subianto had appointed Sri Mulyani Indrawati as Minister of Finance. This means that the position of Minister of Finance has not changed as in the Jokowi administration.
In carrying out her duties, Sri Mulyani will be accompanied by three Deputy Finance Ministers, namely, Thomas Djiwandono, Suahasil Nazara and Anggito Abimanyu. (ASP/KEN)
