First Quarter 2023, Indonesia's Tax Ratio is 9.4%

JAKARTA. In the first quarter of 2023, Indonesia's tax ratio in the broad sense was at 11.41%. Meanwhile, the tax ratio in the narrow sense of Indonesia during the same period was recorded at only 9.95%.
The tax ratio in a broad sense is the comparison between total tax revenue plus non-tax state revenue (PNBP) in the Natural Resources sector which was recorded at 9.4% with the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) figure at current prices.
Meanwhile, the tax ratio in a narrow sense only compares the realization of tax revenue with the realization of GDP at current prices.
According to the Statistics Indonesia, Indonesia's GDP at current prices in the first quarter of 2023 amounted to IDR 5,071.7 trillion.
Meanwhile, based on government records, the realization of tax revenue plus PNBP in the natural resources sector until the first quarter amounted to IDR 578.70 trillion.
In detail, tax revenue consisting of tax revenue and customs revenue, until the end of March 2023 was recorded at IDR 504.49 trillion and PNBP from natural resources collected at IDR 74.21 trillion.
The tax ratio in a narrow sense in the first quarter of 2023 was lower than the tax ratio throughout 2022 and the first quarter of 2022.
Throughout 2022, the tax ratio in the narrow sense was recorded at 10.39% and the tax ratio figure in the broad sense was 11.76%. Then, in the first quarter of 2022, Indonesia's tax ratio in the narrow sense was recorded at 8.92% and the tax ratio in the broad sense was 9.94%. (ASP/KEN)
