Tax Court Again Suspends Trial Session

JAKARTA. The Chairman of the Tax Court has again postponed the implementation of the trial, following the re-enactment of the Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) in DKI Jakarta region. The determination of the PSBB status was issued by the Jakarta Provincial Government related to the development of the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic case in the Capital.
Based on the Circular Letter (SE) of the Chairman of Tax Court number SE-015 / PP / 2020, the trial which was originally scheduled to take place between 14 September-18 September was postponed. It is planned that the trial will be held again on 21 September, 2020.
The postponement was carried out not only for trials which were conducted directly or electronically.
In this regard, a panel of judges or sole judge will order a substitute registrar to notify the parties of the postponement. Notifications will be delivered via electronic media or other media.
Upon this postponement, Chairman of the Tax Court also emphasized that the postponement period would not be taken into account in the preparation period and the trial implementation period, as stipulated in Law Number 14 of 2002.
For information, previously the trial activities at the tax court were closed on 17 March- 31 March 2020. However, then the closing period was extended several times until finally the trial activities were closed during the period 17 March-7 June 2020.
After trial activities reopened on 8 June, Chairman of the Tax Court then decided to close again on 28 June- 29 July 2020 since two court officials tested positive for Covid-19.
