Tariffs of Import Duty of Safeguard Measure on Imports of Fabric Go Up

JAKARTA. The government raised the tariff on import duty of safeguard measure on fabric import in a number of tariff groups, from 27 May 2020 to 8 November. It is stated in the Minister of Finance Regulation number 55 / PMK.010 / 2020.

The regulation revised and revoked the provision of the previous regulation regarding import duty tariffs of safeguard measures on fabric imports, which were regulated in PMK number 162 / PMK.010 / 2019.

In the latest regulation, cloth imports at 107 tariff groups have increased. In addition to raising tariff, the government also changes the tariff scheme that previously used a single tariff scheme for 200 days, by applying different rates for a certain period of time.

Tariff determination is divided into three periods, the first period from 27 May 200-8 November 2020, second period from 9 November 2020-8 November 2021 and third period from 9 November 2021-8 November 2022.

These tariffs are not applicable for fabric imports originating from all countries. Based on this regulation, 122 countries are exempt from the imposition of import duty tariffs on this safeguard measure.

Beyond that, the government also excludes the imposition of import duties on security measure to import goods from countries that have trade cooperation with Indonesia.

Every fabric imported from an excluded country must include a Certificate of Origin (COO) document. COO is the certification of origin of goods, stating that the exported goods are derived from the exporting country.
