JAKARTA. The new tax system, Coretax, is set to adopt a data import scheme using a new format called Extensible Markup Language (XML).
This change means that files uploaded by taxpayers will no longer use the Comma Separated Values (CSV) or Portable Document Format (PDF).
To support this transition, the Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) has made XML templates and converters available for taxpayers. These tools can be downloaded from the official website at www.pajak.go.id.

Categories of XML Templates
The XML templates and converters provided by the Directorate General of Taxes (DGT) include the following categories: Tax Withholding Slip (Bupot) for Income Tax Articles 21/26, Unification Tax Withholding Slip, Tax Invoices, Annual Tax Returns (SPT), Value Added Tax (VAT) Returns (SPT PPN), and Stamp Duty Returns (SPT Bea Meterai).
Previously, documents such as tax withholding slips, invoices, and annexes for corporate tax returns (e.g., fiscal depreciation and amortization schedules or lists of transactions with related parties) were always submitted in CSV format.
Meanwhile, annexes for corporate tax returns, such as a nominative list of promotional expenses, entertainment expenses, and bad debts, always use PDF files.
As noted in the DGT's Coretax 2024 Manual: Annual Tax Return Reporting, XML files are now used because they allow for large volumes of data to be submitted simultaneously. (ASP/KEN)
